Music
Music is a major part of your wedding and
reception, and should e planned and selected carefully. Music helps
create the atmosphere. Special songs will make the wedding uniquely
your own. The music should be determined by you and you fiancé, keeping
in mind the type of guest attending, the budget you have to work with,
and any restrictions of the church or reception site.
Usually two types of music are desired: softer,
more romantic music sung or played during the ceremony, and entertaining
or dancing music played for the reception.
.
CEREMONY MUSIC
- Before making any definite music
arrangements or selections, you should check with your church to see
what if any restrictions it may have.
- The music should start about a half hour
before the ceremony, usually instrumentals to set the mood, with
a solo sung just after the mother of the bride is seated. This
lets people know that the processional is about to start.
- Once the attendants have reached the
alter, the music that announces the bride is played
- One or two songs may be played during the
ceremony – any more than that might be too many
- Finally the recessional, which should be
more upbeat and a slightly quicker temp
RECEPTION MUSIC
- Reception music can be a variety of types,
depending on the mood you want to set at that particular time. Don’t
forget the ages of you guest, try to select musicians that can play
a variety of songs from slower traditional, to 50’s rock and roll,
to faster contemporary music for dancing.
